Нам в школе каждый год показывали в кино взрывы атомной бомбы, последствия лучевой болезни и хроники из немецких концлагерей, а потом бывала учебная тревога. Помню, уже классе в шестом, когда я сама была большая, я по дороге в бомбоубежище подслушала разговор двух малявок-первоклассниц, всех из себя в бантиках и отглаженных передничках:

- Как жалко, что когда начнется атомная война, нельзя будет взять в бомбоубежище моего котика.

А у меня никогда не бывало отглаженного фартучка, и из косы вечно выбивались пряди, которые мои жестокосердные родственники обзывали пейсами.

There was a turtle by the name of Bert
And Bert the Turtle was very alert
